I first got this dress a few years ago on a trip to Edmonton. I was visiting for a university newspaper conference and bought this gem for a gala we were all to attend. When I got back to my hotel room, I discovered that one of the girls I was rooming with had also bought the very same dress for the very same occasion. She was really quite mad that I had purchased the same thing as her, but there was no way either of us could have known! I told her that I didn't mind at all if we wore the same dress as I was sure we would style it different. She refused my offer and asked me if I would not wear it. Usually I am not one to cause a disagreement, but I just had to stand up for my self. For one, I didn't have anything else to wear (nor any extra money to get a new dress/time to return this one) so I insisted that I wear it regardless of what she wanted. I felt kind of bad about it, but it wasn't my fault! In the end I ended up wearing this dress and she wore something else because she thought everyone would notice if we were dressed to similarly. Oh well! Now my dress comes with a story!

After months of buying almost no dresses (almost...I bought one at the beginning of January) I finally broke down and bought a few online. I am so happy with all of them and now I think my closet looks so much better. I'm really into the drindle dress shape lately and bright colours and prints. I got this little number from Forever 21 and I couldn't be more pleased. It is neutral enough to pair with bright accessories and cardigans or tone down like I have here. I can't wait until winter is actually over so I can start to wear something other than boots outside. A girl can dream...

Misikko Review

Hey guys! A few weeks ago I was contacted by Misikko.com to review one of their hair dryers and I gladly accepted! When I first opened the box I was so surprised at all of the goodies inside! It was like Christmas all over again! I first heard of Misikko over at Little Chief Honey Bee when she reviewed their curling irons - there have also been a handful of other bloggers who have reviewed their flat irons claiming that they are the best hair straighteners out there. Needless to say, I was a little more intrigued by these claims!

Let me first say, that I am THE WORST at styling my hair. I don't think I have ever really got the handle of my massive head of really thick curls. I mean really thick. Sometimes if I braid my hair before bed it can stay wet for up to 24 hours. Anyway, given my massive coiffe it takes up quite a lot of time to blow dry it.

With my old hair dryer I would stop after about 20 minutes and then hope the rest would dry soon enough....

Let me tell you, this new dryer really go the job done. It has several different settings and you can either use hot or cold air. It took about 15-20 minutes and my hair was dried just the way I like it to be. I'm definitely glad to add this to my bathroom arsenal.

Victoria Day Three

These are the last of the pictures from my trip. I was there for five days but the last two were I didn't seem to take as many pictures on. I bet you guys are really getting tired of my blue coat! Haha, well you probably will not see it for a while now because I have gone a splurged on the most perfect black duffel coat. No buyers remorse here!

Now that I am back from my trip and all settled into my everyday routine I have decided that I really need to get a second job. Not being in school has really left me with a lot of free time. I'm going to go crazy if I don't do something! Over the weekend I watched two seasons of Misfits in less than 24 hours! By the way - you all have to watch it. BEST TV SHOW EVA!

Victoria Day Two

It is incredibly cold where I am right now. This frigid weather makes me long for the balmy weather and green grass that Victoria has to offer. These pictures are from my second day in the province's capital. I really fell in love with the city while I was wandering those streets. The buildings are all so old and beautiful and the ocean is everywhere you turn. I've already made plans to visit frequently once I live in Vancouver and the Island is only a ferry trip away!

Victoria Day One

Here are some some pictures from the first day of my trip to Victoria. I had such a wonderful time. Victoria is seriously one of Canada's most beautiful cities and I would love to live there one day. I also met a lot really cool people and saw some awesome presentations. I think my favourite was by David Zirin who is an American sports writer.

I didn't do as much shopping as I would have liked, but if you follow me on tumblr or twitter you know that I got some pretty cool magazines and some Chanel lipstick which should satiate my need to spend for a little while!

I felt really good wearing this outfit. I really wish I had of gotten some better quality photos of it. I should either get a better camera or venture outside for optimal lighting. If only I didn't live in the land of ice and cold. Anyway, I always feel super bad ass when I wear all black outfits. The blazer is also a faux leather material which also added to my hardcore factor. I'm so tough right?

Secretary Blouse

I really love this cool patterned secretary blouse. I randomly came across it in a store that primarily sells cheesy "going out dresses" and had to buy it right away because it was so me and because I was so surprised the store had something so not...slutty? Haha! Sadly, it is really poor quality and I am afraid it might fall apart any moment now. Maybe I will get at least a few more wears out of it? I have learned a good lesson though: don't buy stuff from stores with a reputation for being crappy - even if it is really cute.

Hard at Work

By the time you guys are reading this I will be well on my way to Victoria. I am going to try and update the ol' blog whilst on "vacation" but I don't know how much time I will have. I do know that I will be taking lots and lots of pictures to share with you all as soon as I get back! Today I had to get up at 4AM to catch the airport shuttle for my 6AM flight. I am not a morning person so this was very hard for me. I might spend the rest of the day hold up in a Starbucks with a caffeine drip going directly into my bloodstream. That or I will go shopping.

I got to work really early the other day and took the opportunity to snap these pictures before I clocked in and got right down tot he business of selling shoes. Its getting harder and harder to find good places to snap outfit shots. One of these days I am going to need to tell someone about my blog and then force them to take copious amounts of pictures for me!

So I am pretty much packed for my trip to Victoria on Wednesday. I have convinced myself that I need to get a purple belt though or else an outfit I have in mind will not be complete. I hate it when I get an idea into my head, because then nothing else seems good enough! Hopefully I will find just what I am looking for! I am definitely packing light this time which I am very proud about! Last year when I went to Montreal my suitcase was 49.5 kg and the limit was 50 kg. I don't know what I was thinking!

I just found out that my Dad is letting me tag along on a trip down to Vancouver in April! I'm so excited. Not only will I be able to get in some shopping, I will also be able to check out my new apartment for when I move in June. Having fun trips to look forward to makes life so exciting!

It's My Birthday

I hope you all had a great New Year's Eve! I sure did. I went to Houston with my friend to party it up small town style. I had quite a great time and maybe indulged a little to much... Haha, after lazing around the house for all of January 1 I helped my friend move everything she has down to Burnaby (I got dropped off in PG). I'm so sad to see her go and am going to miss her like crazy! I can't wait until I get to move down and join her in June! How did you spend your long weekend?

Presents

Here are two of the presents I got for Christmas. The first one I bought with a gift certificate. They were originally $125 and I got them for $40. I guess it really pays to wait for a sale! The second pair are my beloved glitter platforms. My sister go these babies for me and I couldn't be more appreciative. I am going to wear them to my graduation in May and all around my apartment in the mean time. I also have $75 more dollars in gift cards left to spend so I am super excited to add to my closet!

Here is a little Christmas outfit that I threw together for dinner yesterday. I was a little sad that I didn't have a super awesome Christmas sweater so I put on a white dress, some green tights and a really bright red cardigan to compensate. Away in a Manger

I felt very prep school in this outfit. But, I guess my style is always on the preppier side. Even when I think that I have finally put together an outfit that is "edgy" and a little darker I still look very...girly. I don't think anyone could ever mistake me for a goth. When I was in high school I wore a lot of blacks and darker colours and way too much eyeliner because I thought that made me cool. Its probably for the best that I grew out of that phase. Despite my country club esthetic I still seem to enjoy shows by designers like Rick Owens much more than anyone else.

Well, I am done school! I feel kind of lost and without purpose - but also grateful at the same time. Since finishing I have been occupying my time with Christmas related activities like watching some holiday themed movies, visiting "candy cane lane, and Christmas shopping. I also got my picture taken with Santa with one of my friends. We were totally embarrassed to do it, but it was pretty fun. We even coordinated our outfits with red and green colours totally by chance! I think I might take my cousins to get their picture taken with Santa because its actually really reasonably priced.

Faux Fur

The faux fur collar is detachable which means that I can put it on anything and everything that I want! I went out with my friends on the weekend. As our crappy town is want to do, the bar was filled with a veritable cesspool of hockey jersey wearing men sporting the ever appreciated "Movember" moustaches. I had fun, but every time I go out here serves as a reminder that I need to leave! I like the colours in this outfit. I don't like how when I raise my arms my blouse comes untucked and poofs out. I have been so lazy lately. I really need to read these two books for a paper I need to write, but instead I spend all my time on the internet and watching T.V. Snow Day

As I sit here and write this post, looking out my living room window the parking lot is covered in snow and the cars have a good, thick, blanket of snow on their roofs. I'm having such a hard time getting out of my apartment right now. Over night my little town was covered in a thick blanket of snow...and I don't think its going away this time. If you know anything about me by now, it is that I am not the least bit practical. I don't even own a proper pair of winter boots. I just hate to dress with a functional purpose - it is so not fun. I really think that I need to move to a better climate because it would suit my personality more. I definitely don't fit in here with my deep disdain for tobogganing , skiing, and snowboarding. I had absolutely not intention of purchasing a sweater for my cat but when I went to go and return something I bought a few weeks ago the store would only allow me to exchange it for another item. I have had such a good day today! I didn't have to work and my one and only class ended early. After going home and catching up on some How I Met Your Mother I decided to go out and do some shop looking where I found the most perfect Christmas sweater for my cat. It was super cheap so I just couldn't resist (post coming up with adorable pictures). Then I got home just in time to receive the package I ordered from Forever 21! This made me super happy because I don't really have time to go down to the depot anytime this week to pick it up. Yay me!

Raspberry Beret

Someone once noted that I do not look happy in my photographs. Well, I assure you that I am no angry or sad. I think I may suffer from what tumblr has deemed "bitch face" - I also tend to smile without showing my teeth because I have always been the slightest bit insecure about them. I am, however, smiling(ish) in these photos. I am smiling for three reasons. 1) I found the most perfect beret at The Bay 2) The snow has melted (for now) 3)I bought some wonderful marzipan with a kitten on the box. All of these things combined made for a pretty awesome day!

Faux Bourgeois

These pictures were taken at my work by one of my coworkers. We have to enter a style competition and submit pictures to our head office. Each of us needs to pic a "trend" and dress accordingly. I'm not very competitive, so I wasn't going to enter - but after being badgered by my boss I thought I would. The trend I am dressing in is "faux bourgeois" which is like glorified preppy. This is how I normally dress so it was super easy. I doubt that I will win, but I guess it was kind of fun to take the pictures. One thing is for sure, I am so not comfortable posing when other people are around.

This is my newest addition to my weird wall art collection. It was actually an extra poster from work. My boss let me take it home because I liked it so much.

I have been wearing these boots non stop for a week. They are warm and comfortable and the nicest shade of brown. What more could you ask for?

No costume from me! I won't even be giving out Halloween candy as I live in an apartment building with no kids in it! I wore this outfit on Saturday and I only left the house once to get some Starbucks. I like the outfit - so I took a break from my blog reading and TV show watching to snap some photos. My cat insisted on being in almost every shot. At one point he just sat right in front of the camera and would not move. Haha, he sure is silly.

In other news, I am excited because in just over a month I will be done my undergraduate degree forever! I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do next (sleep lots?), so don't bother asking...lol.

Regrets

So all week I was feeling pretty mopy and anti-social for a myriad of reasons the biggest of which being that my boyfriend and I have been broken up for a month. Everyone keeps asking me if I have "hooked up" with anyone else. I haven't - and I don't really plan on it. I mean I was in a relationship for five years - I think I need a little time to adjust? Anyway, because of my mopy anti-social mood during the week I did not make any plans for Halloween. I even declined a few invitations to go out with some acquaintances. Long story short, now that all the Halloween party tickets have been sold out (for like every event in town) and all of my friends have plans I am regretting my decision to be alone for the weekend. I just want to dress up like a princess and dance! Oh well, there is always next year...

All Bundled Up

Tonight I have to do a two hour presentation for one of my classes. I'm sure it will be okay, but I am a little stressed about it. My partner and I wanted to interview some UNBC students and make a mini documentary for the project but we missed the ethics application deadline by a day! So, instead I made a mini-mash up of my favourite feminist Youtube bloggers and videos. It was my first time using iMovie and I think it turned out okay. I really love to fiddle around with computers and make stuff - it makes me feel so smart and productive. Who knows, maybe I will make a video for the blog?

California Stars

I have been getting home rather late these past few days. Because of these late nights - I have had to resort to taking pictures inside because my camera has a terrible flash on it. I really want to get a new fancy camera! Maybe once I graduate I can get one? These boots are my absolute favourite shoes in the whole world. They are mega high but oh so comfortable. I can wear them for an 8hour shift no problem. You are going to be seeing a lot of them here on the good ol' blog.

Also - check out my super awesome new iPhone! I love it so much. It makes me happy. My blackberry took a turn for the worst around Thanksgiving and I was complaining to my Dad about it and he offered to get me a whole new phone! It is technically a really early (3 months) birthday present but I just couldn't argue at all! I originally got the iPhone case for my sister's birthday but she claims it is too cute for her to use, so she gave it back to me. I love it. I also must admit that I went on a shopping binge and bought 4 new iPhone covers on eBay. It only cost me $6 though, so its totally okay...lol!

Rainy Day Sunshine

I wore this outfit because I was super tired from doing homework and readings the night before and it is simple and soooooo comfortable. I usually bring my umbrella everywhere with me, but for some reason I neglected to pop it in my bag on this day. So, I was forced to use my circle scarf as a hood to keep my hair from going too wild. I think I look pretty silly, but I thought it was fun at the time - and that is all that matters.

In other news, I am about to head out of the house to go and get an i-phone! It is an early Christmas present from my Dad who for some reason has a real hate on for blackberries and insists that I get a new phone. To be fair, my current phone is on its last leg what with the turning off whenever it wants and not being able to go on the internet (the purpose of smart phone), so you will see no arguments here! All of my Mistakes

I really love this dress. I think it is beyond perfect. Unfortunately, the first time that I wore it I not only got chocolate sauce on it but I also got the first layer of tulle caught in my jacket and it ripped a whole in the front :( I am going to wear it anyway because it is just that perfect.

As you all know, Halloween is coming up - while I don't have any definitive plans yet I still think it is a good idea to think of a costume idea. But, I just cannot seem to think of something cool. In the past I have been Ginny Weasley and Madonna. What do you think I should be this year?

Canadian Thanksgiving

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. I am just about to head on over to my Dad's house for some fam jam time.

I haven't been posting much lately because my life has kind of turned upside down. My and my boyfriend of 4 years broke up earlier this week and it has been really hard. While I know that this break up is a good thing in the long run and that we just aren't good together as a couple anymore, it has been really hard. I have been scrambling around looking for a place to live within my price range and it has left me exhausted. To top is all off, I still have to write a paper for Tuesday!

I think the hardest part about this break up, however, is the loss of a really great friend. Brett and I were more than just boyfriend and girlfriend - we were really great friends who had some fantastic times together. I think the thing that I hate most about break ups is that everyone expects you to want to dish about how awful the other person is and gossip about all their faults. It seems as if when people break up everyone feels as if their opinions have been liberated and it is now okay to say things like "well, I never really like him - I just kept that to my self this whole time." The Blackest Purse

It has been raining like crazy here lately, but other than having crazy curly hair all the time, I don't mind so much. I'm really excited because the two dresses I ordered from Ruche at the beginning of the month finally came in the mail. They are more perfect than I imagined they were. I did think, however, that one of them was a light pink when it turns out it is actually a creme. Oh well, I like it all the same. I cannot wait to wear them and snap some perfect pictures tomorrow. I'm not sure which one I will wear first but I will definitely make a point to take some outside shots. Lately, I have been so tired/lazy/really busy to take good outfit shots. So I have decided that I really want to get a new job. I have been working at a shoe store for the past year and while I love my coworkers and think that they are all so awesome, I don't think that I can deal with the customers and the stress of "selling" anymore. Lately I have been stressing over work because we have quotas that we have to make and we have to push certain products, and it just isn't me. So, seeing as I am mere months away from graduating university I have decided to start applying for real grown up jobs. The only problem is that it seems like there are absolutely no jobs specific to my degree. Haha, I guess I should have studied something more "real world applicable". I guess I will just have to get creative and look outside of my degree to find something I will like! In the mean time I am just going to wear chunky cardigans and loafers. Sounds like a plan if you ask me!

Hiding in Plain Sight

These pictures turned out a lot more orange than I thought they would. I strive to take my pictures outside, but some times I just get too shy. Now that school is in session the campus is teeming with people and there is absolutely no area where groups of people are not sitting and in plain view. Once it gets a little colder I am sure this will no longer be the case, but right now it means that it is harder for me to snap some outfit shots! I just have to get over my fear of people seeing me taking pictures of myself. It is a weird situation though!

High School Lover

Fall is my absolute favourite time of the year. I just love everything about it. I love going back to school, seeing everybody after being away for the summer, the smells, the colours, and all the pumpkin flavoured treats. When I walk down a street that is covered with yellow and red leaves and I am wrapped up in several layers I always imagine that I am in some perfect movie. One of these days I need to move to a place that has a longer Autumnal season. Where I live winter sets in by the middle of October and we sometimes have snow before Halloween has even come! Strangely enough, one of my favourite things about the coming of fall is the start of Football season. I have always loved football and the strange culture that surrounds it. When I was still in high school our school reinstated the football team after not having one for 25 years. Almost seven years later and you can see the high school teams practicing all over town. I have been watching a lot of Friday Night Lights lately and I just cannot get over how intensely they take football. I don't know of any one thing that my town cares about that much. It makes me want to switch my degree to Anthropology and move to small town Texas just to study phenomena of high school football!

Hey guys! Yesterday, after a summer of complaining and saving I finally got my dream computer. That is right folks, I got a Mac Book! I couldn't be happier right now. If you have been following my posts over the summer you will be well aware of my plague of computer problems lately. Well, I will complain no more as all is well! Here is a slightly different post than I normally make. My camera battery was about to die on the day that I took these pictures so I didn't even bother to see if they came out right. Turns out I managed to cut off my feet in the first picture. Good thing I snapped one of my shoes later on! The other two pictures I took while doing some work in my office. Every time I am working on a Mac I always take so many photos of myself in photo booth. Here are two of my favourite ones. I was also playing around with the distortion on photoshop too. Haha, didn't get much work done that day!

When you pay your student fees at my university they give you a little sticker to put on your student card that allows you unlimited access to the public transit as well as the two city pools. While I have always taken advantage of the unlimited buss pass, I haven't entered the pool since Teen Friday was all the rage back in the eighth grade. I might start to take advantage to the free pool time this year though. I have been feeling the need to exercise lately and swimming seems rather appealing. I do, however, have my reservations when it comes to the pool. First, I am not the most confident person in a bathing suit and second my swimming form is no where near adequate. Hopefully this is something I can get past. Maybe if I make it through my first few times with out being laughed out of the building I'll be okay!

Its starting to get so very cold here. Just the other day I tried to leave the house wearing only a cardigan only to spend the rest of the day with goosebumps and chattering teeth. Tomorrow I will definitely be wearing my newly perfected jean jacket. I have been scouring local stores looking for the perfect fitting jean jacket. But after weeks of hunting to no avail I remember that I had one crammed in the back of my closet. The reason that I hardly ever wore it in the past was that it was just a smidgen to big. Then, it dawned on me that I should just wash it and put it in the dryer. Denim shrinks like no other fabric and I usually hate it when something I love shrinks in the wash. This time however, I welcomed the change and it ended up working so perfectly. Now its like the jacket was made to fit me exactly! Good thing its cold enough to wear it (not)!

School is exactly one week away today. I feel as if it has crept up on me so fast. I have so much to do before the first day and I'm starting to feel the pressure. The first issue of our school paper comes out in one week and I have been scrambling to get everything in order. I still have articles to write and to put it all together in InDesign! On top of that, I work everyday for the next week and my bathroom needs a really good cleaning. Its funny how I have had so little to do for most of the summer and now my schedule is jam packed!

Ice Coffee

If there is one thing I love about summer it is the over abundance of ice coffee. I could drink that stuff everyday for the rest of my life and be the happiest person. Most places in my town don't even carry ice coffee during the winter and it is quite a shame. I think my favourite iced coffee has to be the caramel one from Tim Hortons. I've tried so many from local coffee shops to the big name ones but the Tim's one takes the cake. And I usually don't like Tim Hortons. I guess now that fall is well on its way I an going to have to say bye bye to my beloved beverage :( Oh well, at least I will have pumpkin spice lattes to placate my need for caffeine.

The face you see in these pictures is the face of some who is being watched. There was a man sitting across the courtyard from me who was starring intently at me whilst I look these pictures. I tried to move locations slightly but found that he could still see me. Normally I am okay with people being around me while I take pictures, but I cannot handle it when to many people are paying attention to me - and right out staring is too much to take! I think it would be less awkward if I had someone taking the pictures for me, but I am using a self timer and alone so I look like a weirdo. I always have stories prepared just in case some nosey person comes along asking me what I'm I up to.

Three's a Crowd

I got this dress just before Christmas last year. I got it from The Bay and had to have it brought in because they only had size XL left. I was so happy when I got it, but then after wearing it for the first time I found that it was not, in fact, the white dress of my dreams. I should have gotten a size small rather than a medium as the waist is way to big. Since I first wore it on New Years Eve this is only the second time that I have traipsed around in it. I must say, however, that after seeing these pictures I like it a little bit more than I before and plan to wear it more frequently. It has that great 60s vibe that I adore so much! I will just have to get used to the bell sleeves which always seem to be in the way.

So I finally went and picked out all of my classes for this upcoming semester. The good news is that it looks like my text books will cost just over $100! The best thing about studying Political Science has been that I can get most of my text books online and for way less money than any Science of Business student. I have heard horror stories of some Science students spending upwards of $1200 on text books alone! I'm so excited for school now! I'm like a kid counting down until Christmas. Only 14 more days!

I really love this cat dress. I mean, how can you go wrong with a cat dress? I bought this about a year ago after seeing one of my favourite bloggers wear it. I love it to pieces and so many people comment on it. My boyfriend and I actually got into a mini argument over the print because for some reason he thought that instead of cats, the dress was covered in geese? Weirdest thing ever. The only problem with this dress is that it is mercilessly short. Its more of a tunic than anything else. When I wear it I always make sure to have super thick tights on or even a pair of leggings. The other idea I go the bright idea to pair it with a skirt underneath and I quite like the results. What do you think?

This dress is definitely one of my favourite items. I got it a few years ago from Forever 21 and it has held up remarkably well. I have worn it countless times on the blog and I find that it is quite versatile. I think I want to get some sort of mustard blouse to wear underneath it. Maybe a little something with an ascot? Did I mention that I am totally into blouses right now? Well, I am. I think when I get paid at the end of the month I might actually get a few things that I have been lusting after from my favourite online shops. I will rationalize it as "back to school" clothes. Ahh, do you remeber the days when you got to go shopping just for back to school stuff. I used to think it was better than Christmas. I took these pictures after work the other day during one of our only sunny and warm days. I really didn't need the sweater at all, but I had just left work and they air condition the shit out of the building so its like perpetual winterland in there. Speaking of work, I have been working at my new job for just over a month now and I'm liking it quite a lot. Basically I am to look after a small gift shop attached to an art gallery. Less than 20 people come into the shop each day so there isn't too much work to do. This means that I have a lot of down time to spend on the internet. Basically I have been reading a lot of this and this. I am afraid that their writers will not be able to post as frequently as I need them too as I find my self eagerly awaiting new posts. In addition I have also read three of the Sookie Stackhouse novels (True Blood) and have added a tonne more blogs to my bloglovin' queue. Needless to say this job will really help come September as I will have NO EXCUSE to get my course material read.

I got this midi skirt at Value Village a few weeks ago (just about the only newish thing that I have bought this summer). I really like it as it is quite similar to a few I was lusting after online. Fall Forward

So far we have had one really nice week of weather where the sun was shining and it was warm throughout the day. Sadly, it seems that this weather system has come to pass and we have retreated back into our dreary ways. The return of the rain and clouds has made me long for a fall wardrobe much like you are about to see. This autumn I am feeling the warmer shades as usual but in a more uniform way. Come September I want to wear nothing but burgundy, camel, and leopard. I might allow the occasional pink or forest green, but you can expect to see a less of the cooler blues I usually wear.

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Mine was not too good due to some unforeseen banking issues involving all of my money dissapearing from my bank account. I'm still not sure how it happened or why, but I woke up Saturday morning logged onto my online banking and realized it was all gone. Needless to say I have been a big ball of nerves since. Hopefully it will be all sorted out soon. The bank is currently looking into the situation, but until then I'm practically sitting on the edge of my seat 24/7. Luckily I have a great mom who was more than willing to lend me some "in the mean time" money. After this I might just resort to keeping my money in a paper bag under my mattress.

We Went for a Ride

Yesterday I went on a mini road trip with my mom to a near by town (only an hour and 45 mins away). The day was spent sight seeing and drinking lots of coffee. We don't have a Robins coffee in the town where I live so I made my mom take me there. Its nothing special at all...and actually turned out to be not so good. I wore my favourite shoes and had a pretty good time all around. We went to this little museum because they supposedly have a haunted doll there. The museum was a little aggravating for me because they had artifact from different time periods in the same displays. It was kind of like "here is a bunch of old shit in one room - it all fits because the stuff is old." Haha, I am a little particular when it comes to museums and I would prefer them to be historically representative or at least consistent! I ended my day by applying some Sally Hansen nail stickers to muh nailz. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be but I really liked the result!

Hey Guys! Welcome to another Friday. Is it just me or has this summer gone by so quickly? I still cannot get over the fact that we are now 5 days into August. I have some fun things planned for today. The first of which involves a mini road trip to a nearby town. My mom bought a new car last weekend and now she wants to test it out so we are headed to the highway! I'm sure the trip will be filled with bad food and lots of music. Last weekend I acted like a normal 20 something I went out dancing with some friends. We went to this little place that I had never been to before and the drinks were really cheap which is always appreciated. I don't really have any "going out clothes" (aka tight jeans and a shiny, sexy top) so I thought I would try and dress like I normally do with a little more edge. Ha ha, what I came up with was my trusted American Apparel skirt and some fun! tights. I thought that the faux garter tights added that little extra edge that is required for a night out on the town. What do you think, did I succeed or do I look like a 16 year old who is trying to hard? Anyway, I only managed to snap two pictures because some other people came to wait at the same buss stop as me and I got all nervous and stopped! Ahh, the life of a covert blogger...

I am not quite sure why I am posting these pictures as they are definitely not my favourite set. It is not the clothing that I do not like it is the background! I think that it is so boring and unsightly. I definitely will not be taking pictures at this spot again. I think that this shirt is really fun because it has all of my favourite colours in it. I want to get a thicker belt to wear with it though as you could hardly see the skinny belt I had on with this outfit.

Red Red Wine

I have so many pairs of coloured tights that I do not wear as often as I would like. It is too easy to just throw on a pair of black tights and head out the door. I'm definitely going to start working in the coloured tights that I do have into more of my outfits. I also would love to get a pair of red tights and some blush pink ones. I will probably order a few pairs from We Love Colors in the next little white because I like the way that they fit. Until then, I will have to make do with the blue, burgundy, and brown ones that I do have!

Terry Fox

Whoa! Look at me blogging every single day this week! I really like being able to find cool new places to take photographs and this is definitely one of them. This area is actually in a really bad part of town, but it is kind of cute! The Terry Fox statue has actually been replaced a few times because people like to beat it with golf clubs and other blunt objects. Why? I'm not sure its not like Terry Fox was a bad guy at all! I took these pictures before work the other day and that is why I have this thick, warm sweater on. The art gallery where I work is soooo cold it might as well be January!

Like Camels and Leopards

I went to the casino last night with my mom and some other family members. I only brought $40 dollars with me and I lost $20 and then gave up! My mom gave me another $5 which I then proceeded to squander away. There was quite a few people around me who seemed to be winning upwards of $500 but it makes me wonder how much they put in! My mom came out quite well, she won just under $200 and and it only took her $25 to get there! I just have to say that I do not have what it takes to be a ramblin' gambler. If I am going to waste my money, I would rather it be on nail polish and magazines and Starbucks Coffee! Ha! Oh well - to each there own!

Shoe Lust List

I cannot believe that this time last year I had just under 5 pairs of shoes. As you know from my post a while back, that number has increased quite drastically over the year. I think the culprit is the fact that I work in a shoe store now! I'm going to hazard a guess that this addiction is going to follow long after I am finished with the retail world. Anyway, here are just a few of my current must haves. As you can tell I am loving high shoes right now! I used to be so afraid to wear heels, but now I find that I love it and they also boost my confidence. There are at least two shoes on this list that I will definitely be getting - which ones do you think it will be?

Coffee Break

I feel as if my blog is in the minority. While the eastern half of North American has been enveloped in a never ending heat wave - my little corner of the planet has experienced nothing but cold winds and rain. So while other bloggers are trying to be stylish while wearing as little layers as possible I find myself bundling up as if it I was strolling around in the middle of October. Needless to say, this burgundy cardigan has become my signature look as of late because it is akin to wrapping myself in a soft blanket and the best defence against the hash climate to which I am slowly adapting.

Grey Day

Yesterday was my mother's birthday and while we didn't do anything too special, we do have some pretty cool plans for tomorrow. For some reason my mom thought it would be a good idea to get all dressed up and go to the casino! Haha, I have never been to a casino before so it is kind of exciting! I hate card games, and am horrible at parting with my money so I plan on bringing a small amount of cash and hitting up the slot machines. My goal is to win $5000 without spending more than $40. If only! I would go on a major shopping spree if that happened. A girl can dream!

Ghost Town

I wore this for a super casual day over the weekend. You know one of those days when you just sort of laze around the house watching bad TV and being kind of bored? I can only stay inside for so long, so I eventually ventured over to the nearby grocery store to grab some supplies and a much needed cup of coffee. Have I mentioned how much I love coffee? Haha, I'm pretty much a Gilmore Girl when it comes to my addiction to caffeine.

P.S. I am wearing far to many layers for it to be July. Where is my summer?

Fire Truck

Almost immediately after I took these pictures the sun retreated into the clouds and the sky opened up causing most people to run for shelter. For the rest of the day it was as dark as night and with claps of thunder and bolts of lightning befitting the scariest of movies. I however, had my trusty umbrella in tow and was more than prepared for being stuck in a storm. Who knows, maybe one of these days we will be invited into this heat wave being experienced...everywhere else.

Windy Day

I think this blue ASOS dress has to be one of my all time favourites. I find that there are so many ways that I can wear it. The structure is perfect for my body type and girly while still being mature. I think I will be ordering myself another one in a different colour pretty soon because I can't pass up having such a versatile piece in my closet. Speaking of my closet - I am getting rather tired of the dresses that I do have. I have been wearing separates a lot more lately because I find I can dress them down a lot more. I think my style is slowly moving away from the uber girly and feminine to a little more relaxed and tough. Needless to say, this really makes me want to go shopping soon!

Casual Friday

I have taken to wearing pants a lot more than I used to. And when I say a lot, I really mean maybe three times a month rather than 0-1. I have still yet to find the perfect pair of pants, but I still hold out hope. I remember in high school I had this perfect pair of skinnies that fit me like a dream but they eventually wore out and were beyond repair. I would really like to try on a pair of the those Levis that measure your curves and then fit accordingly or whatever they are supposed to do. Can't get them in my town, and there is no way I will buy pants online! I'm too picky when it comes to jeans and pants to ever not try them on first (it would be a lot easier to shop otherwise)! Do other people have as hard of a time finding jeans and pants, or is it just me?

The Shadowlands

I took these pictures during a quick reprieve of the almost constant rain we have been experiencing. I think that we have had more days of rain this summer than any other summer I can remember. I spoke with my sister the other day and she said that it was nearly 45 degrees in Montreal with the humidity! I don't think we have breached 15 yet. Anyway, I guess I should stop complaining about the weather and appreciate the sun that we do get...even if it is ever so sparse.

I have finally finished my 30x30. Actually, I finished it a few days ago. The only problem is that in the midst of all my computer problems the last six sets of pictures somehow managed to get deleted off of my computer! I'm not sure how I am going to get them back, or if I will be able to. Maybe I will just have to recreate them and take some more pictures? Well, until then I will have to continue to post regular outfits! I still feel glad to know that I finished the challenge all the way to the end, but a little sad that I don't have photographic evidence for the blog.

Troubles on my Mind

Oh wow! I had sort of a mini hiatus there! On Friday my computer broke! I just woke up in the morning and it refused to turn on. Normally when this happens (my computer is coming to a sloe death) I just unplug the power cord and take the battery out and wait about 30 mins and then it turns on. But this time, I had no such luck. It turns out that my mom had a spare old computer without a power cord so she got a replacement on and I was going to use that but I couldn't find the password for the wireless internet! I finally tried the replacement power cord on my computer and it is working (for now). Anyway, I am definitely going to have to find a new
computer before school starts!

Summertime Clothes

Wow, so these pictures turned out incredibly orange! Today I have the day off work so I plan on doing some fun stuff like calling the consignment shop where I dropped off some stuff over a month a go to see if there is some $$$ for me to pick up. I'm really hoping that there is. I also might make an appointment to drop some goodies off, but I am unsure if I want to deal with the same shop again. Then, depending on whether or not I have any cash to pick up I might head on over to the mall for a little "pick me up". Haha. Later in the evening I am going over to my Nanny's house for my cousin's 12th birthday party which I'm sure will be exhausting. Since my sister is still in Montreal I will have the undivided attention of my cousins for the entire visit. And lets just say that I am not the best with kids! All in all, I think this is shaping up to be a pretty interesting day!

Pretty in Pink

I wore this the other day for a lazy day hanging around my apartment and a quick jaunt to Starbucks. It is seriously bad having a Starbucks less than a block away (I literally live right next door to it). Anyway, today I am wearing something much more glamorous and pretty as it is my first full day at my new job! I am working at an Art Gallery now in the gift shop! It is such a lovely and pretty place to work. Tonight there is a new exhibit opening and am so excited to be there! I know I will just be selling trinkets and pottery and things like that, but the atmosphere is just so wonderful! Plus, I have fond memories of art galleries as my father used to take my sister and me there quite regularly when we were little as he is an artist himself. While my sister is quite talented when it comes to drawing and painting, I did not inherit the gift in the slightest!

Karma Police

Last Friday I was browsing the Forever 21 website and I saw this really cute wallet for $12. Since my wallet broke a while back I thought it would be a good idea to order it since I hadn't come across one that I liked in town. Anyway, I checked the tracking number and Purolator said that the package would be delivered yesterday. Since I didn't have to work at all yesterday I decided to wait for it at home. I spent most of the day reading and browsing the internetz and snacking on some grilled cheese. At around 3pm I decided to take the garbage out. On my way out I noticed that there was a noted tacked to the door. The note was from Purolator saying that they "had missed me"! I got really mad because this isn't the first time that this has happened to me. I even write my buzzer number in the address portion of the shipping info and leave a stick on the door, but still the delivery driver will not buzz me! I have even complained to the Purolator office but it still keeps happening! I just don't understand why he won't ever buzz my apartment!

Flower Power

I'm on the home stretch. Only 1o more outfits to go before I am finished my 30x30 challenge! And, now that I have a second job (start on Wednesday) I may even be able to purchase a few new items just in time for fall fashion. But, lets face it - this summer so far has been a real let down in terms of weather. It hardly gets past 15 degrees and most of the time I need to wear tights and a cardigan. I am more than ready to embrace the autumnal weather because I enjoy nothing more than layering up! Now, if only it could always be fall and never winter!

This cardigan is not part of my 30x30. After I somehow managed to rip the shirt that I wore in this post, I was done to 29 items. So, I just decided to switch them out and this happened to be similarish (floral print). I hope you guys don't all think I am a cheater now, but I thought it rather necessary as a 29 for 29 just inst as cool! Plus, I think it goes rather well with my neon pink tank top! Don't you guys think these photos are cool? I like them because they are all slanted. I propped my camera up on this slanted edge by my apartment on the way back from Starbucks. I look like I am leaning in every shot or that the picture is tilted. So fun!

18 to Life

I cannot believe that I am only on outfit 18 for this 30x30 challenge! It feels like I have been doing it for much longer. But, I am more than half way done which is good because it always feels nice to accomplish something. I had to buy a bus pass today because it has been raining so much. I was going to try and go the whole summer taking the bust as little as possible and just walk everywhere, but its been so wet that walking just isn't as fun. Plus, it totally sucks to show up to work all wet from the rain! I will probably still walk home from work because I don't mind getting wet when all I have to do is go home! I wonder if summer will ever rear its beautiful head in my crazy little town?

Lucky Lady

A few weeks ago I mentioned in my facebook status that I was looking for a second part time job. Initially, I was just doing it because I was bored and being a complainy-pants. Well, it actually worked out in my favour. This girl that I know from a university club wrote me a message yesterday telling me that her work was hiring and that she thought I would be perfect for the job. I got the message at 4:15 and the deadline for applications was at 5:00 pm. Not wanting to miss out, I called my mother and asked if she would quickly drive me there. Luckily, she was just getting off work. With 20 minutes to spare I ran from the car into the building to deliver my resume. And....I got the job! They hired me right away because the girl had already told her boss about me! I start on Wednesday! Isn't that awesome! Needless to say, I am beyond stoked! Facebook really is awesome!

I must sound like a bleeding heart on this blog sometimes. I guess that I forget that this is blogger and not live journal. Anyway, I am so tired of the direction this summer is going in. I just want Fall to come so I can finish my classes and move on with me life. I feel like I am stuck in such an awkward position. No one wants to hire me because I am a student, and I can't get an actual "real person" adult job because I am a student. Oh the irony.
